In the past year I’ve really focused on personal development and started to take more of a spiritual direction with my life. Ever since I listened to the book the secret I started my journey and have dived deeper in to personal growth, then I found podcasts and I haven’t looked back since.
Why podcasts are awesome?
- You can listen whilst you’re working, travelling, cleaning
- It’s completely free (I actually thought it was like iTunes and you had to pay for each episode or channel you wanted to listen too.. LOL)
- There’s literally a podcast on anything you can think of (It’s like audio Youtube)
- You can pick and choose what to learn/ hear more about.
Podcasts I’m loving
I stumbled upon this podcast a couple of months ago and absolutely loving all the content that Samantha Fey and Deb Bowen are sharing. There’s hundreds of episodes and years worth of listening on their channel which I’ve been slowly working my way through. As I’ve recently started to explore spirituality and a bit of ‘woo woo’ these gals really have been a massive helping hand in that. Teaching me about crystals, tarot cards, Numerology, meditation and more. It’s such a huge resource and if you’re into spirituality then I’m sure there’s an episode that you’ll love on there. I love the combination of the presenters as they have such contrasting and combining beliefs it’s refreshing. It’s always kept really light and most episodes start with a meditation, a crystal of the week and now an animal of the week, later episodes had a tarot card of the week. It’s pretty fun learning a little in depth each episode.
Now this was probably the first spiritual podcast series I started listening too, I’m not even sure how I came across this series but it definitely lead me on a journey. JJ Flizanes really does delve into what is your purpose in life and the whole spiritual world with a modern/realistic edge with guests that really know their field and sharing their insights. It’s pretty cool exploring practices that I’ve never really heard much about such has palm readings, your dreams, manifesting, gratitude and most importantly for me numerology. As this is where my numerology journey and a huge part of my re-self discovery journey stems from. I find this podcast really does dive into your soul and who you are, understanding the little quirks that make you unique in ways that we are not really taught at a young age or that some people never learn in their life. I definitely recommend listening to JJ as she really is a great starting point on a self discovery journey. (Also she sounds a little bit like Dory from Finding Nemo, so there’s extra love there)
I discovered this podcast when I started researching more into Myres Briggs system. You may have taken a Myres briggs test at work or just for fun or maybe you’ve never even heard of it. You can find a test that I like and sent to everyone I know here. It’s mainly a personality test combined with how your brain works and how you make decisions. This podcast dives into deeper into personality types and understanding the different functions. I was really drawn to it as the hosts, Joel Mark-Witt & Antonia Dodge really give an educational and a variety of in-depth conversations about the different aspects of a persona and why we do the things we do. Which I found quite refreshing as it feels like it’s coming from a place of understanding rather than judgement and being able to rationally speak about a persons certain issues and decision making processes.
Each episode is about 20 mins long so I found this podcast better to listen too whilst working or travelling, mixing up my day. The Lavendaire Lifestyle focuses on millennial’s lifestyle with a range of interviews of people from lots of creative professions. I really enjoyed the earlier podcasts from this series as it was really interesting listening to Aileen’s point of view and the hurdles she has faced but also touching on important topics, trails and challenges we face in our twenties. The podcast really does give a refreshing, light perspective that we all are just ‘figuring it out’ especially as creatives and focusing on creating a life that inspires you & truly love.
Oprah, need I say more? A powerhouse of a woman with an inspirational mission on changing the world with not only her words but action. I love just listening to Oprah’s voice as I find it so relaxing, down to earth attitude with a strong will to bring value to her audience. In that she truly does bring value with the guests she has on the show and really focusing on deepening the connection to your soul. It’s very spiritual but more focused on a new age practices within the technological world. The episodes are pretty short and easy listening so they’re perfect to listen too at lunch time or during your work break when you want to switch off from the drama around you and focus more on yourself or even just listen to an open, intellectual conversation.
Thank you for reading & share in the comments below your favourite self development podcasts. I’m always on the look out for more quality podcasts.
