How I Gained 200 Followers on Instagram in 24 hrs

How I Gained 200 Followers on Instagram in 24 hrs

Let’s start from the beginning, I started a beauty account at the end of 2015. It was a slow process and fumbling through & trying to figure out what I was doing. It got to a point where I started posting regularly I hit 500 followers and it sat there for months. It felt like a eternity that I sat at 500 and I could never understand why?

I’m sure I looked it up but i think I was looking in all the wrong places or felt uncomfortable with what people where suggesting. Then suddenly I was fully comitted to it in January I thought I need to really turn this around. So I set myself a goal to hit 1,000 followers in 3 months. I wanted something:

  1. Achievable/ realistic
  2. Measurable
  3. Organic followers (no buying or fake inactive accounts)

I had learnt so much and there seemed to be a lot more useful Instagram tips just appearing to me via my inbox, Pinterest & youtubers. It was then that I really realised how much of a secret I was keeping my account from friends & family. Not exactly a secret but it just wasn’t out the obvious to them that this is the account I use now. So if you’re running a business, blog or want to grow your Instagram like crazy to connect to big accounts.

Ask yourself:
How many friends do you have on your Facebook? Are you connecting with those friends? Are they in your target audience?

Chances are they are your friends or you’ve met them on a face to face basis or maybe they are within your target market. Now is not the time to be shy, as you’re pretty much wasting time. Get connected if you’re looking to use your Instagram for your business and your friends & family are the best way to get started. Even if you just have the one true supporter, that’s one more than you already had and think of all the people they know & then again who they know and so on. Word of mouth works wonders, hence why the blogging, you-tubing industry really blew up in the past couple of years & brands cottoned on that using them in their advertising campaigns is really going to see a real difference.

So why is all of this relevant or maybe you’ve even cottoned on to where I’m heading with this. I was definitely on the shy side with sharing my blog and Instagram for beauty and figured not many my friends would be interested. Obviously I was wrong and ignorant to think so, when I finally found a video and researched into Instagram a fair amount more and really wanted to start utilising this as a business tool. One of the best tips that led to 200 followers in one day (which was a huge jump for me since I was sat at the 500 followers for months!)

  • Connect Instagram to Facebook
  • Then click follow all
  • When “Your Facebook friend XXX is on Instagram as XX” Follow them
  • Then stay connected by liking & commenting on their posts
  • In return this will led to more engagement on your posts

This honestly made me gain 200 followers in 24hrs, bearing in mind I probably connected my Facebook to Instagram previously but I didn’t follow all my Facebook friends because I assumed that they ‘wasn’t interested’ well 200 of them was and then their friends were so I’m glad my assumptive self was wrong! & I hit my 3 month goal in just 19 days into January! Which I was super surprised and excited about!

I’m aware that it’s a great tip but it seems so terrifying for me! I was thinking about it for some time and your post is another sign to do this! 🙂

Such an amazing tip I can so relate to taking Instagram seriously and reaching a steady growth I’ve never tried reaching out to my Facebook friends I probably will now!

This is such a great tip! You are so right about not being shy. Reason being I need to read more often as well. Another great tip is to do what we are doing now. Read other blogs and comment on them too. Not only will you get followers but a good read as well, just like this one. Great job!

This is a great tip! I just made my blog a Instagram account the other day, so I might have to try this out! I feel getting followers is sometimes hard if you don’t want to pay for them or do follow for follow…

Great tip! I hate the spammy method where accounts follow you just so you’ll follow them back. Then they unfollow you a day later. Good luck with growing your followers! It’s definitely been the hardest part of blogging for me so far.

I still feel a bit shy about sharing my blog on facebook.. I am afraid of being judged by those closest to me!

I felt the same but after taking the plunge it felt great! X

Thank you so much for sharing your tips (I just found your blog via the Essex Bloggers Facebook group which a friend added me on today). I’ve only just started getting into blogging – so keep memories of wedding planning for my August Wedding, but now I’m enjoying linking local companies on my blog. By using certain # I’ve noticed in the last week my followers climbed to between 250-260 (or have kept the same as guessing some people unfollow!) I’ll try linking to Facebook…Thank you! xx

Great tip! I didn’t even think about connecting my Facebook to Instagram. It’s so hard to get followers on insta because I feel like everyone follows me then unfollows me! Good tips (:

TOTALLY JUST STARTED DOING THE SAME THING! Insta is my “electronic photo album” lol. I LOVE photos and with just starting my blog, I’m going to make sure I’m posting everyday! Thanks so much for the insight! 🙂

    • 1st March 2017 / 12:33 AM

      Amazing! You’re welcome!

  19. 27th February 2017 / 8:11 PM

I’ve only recently gotten more serious about Instagram, but have found that the more photos I like within my niche, the more followers I get 😊 I’m definitely on the shy side about following my Facebook friends!!

    • 1st March 2017 / 12:33 AM

That’s brilliant! I was too but the follow all button made me bite the bullet!

  20. 27th February 2017 / 4:08 PM

Thanks so so much for this post Charlotte!! I’m a new travel and lifestyle blogger and quite shy about my blog too. I am proud of my blog’s instagram but the thought of following EVERY SINGLE ONE of my Facebook friends absolutely terrified me! But then I went through all my friends and anyone who I felt would make fun of my blog or was an ex or someone who brought up negative feelings, I unfollowed on Facebook.

Then I followed everyone and so far in only 20 minutes 70 of my friends have followed me back! <3 And the number is still climbing. So thanks a million because not only have you helped me to get more followers but I've also got a push to remove all negative people from my Facebook newsfeed 🙂
