For the majority of this month, I’ve really felt the low point of my bank balance, for a number of reasons. I was pretty sure that I hadn’t really introduced anything new into my beauty routine or make-up bag. Then I had a look at what was new and what have been my absolute favourites this month. Turns out I have had a bit of spend up… oops! I think I seem to forget, as its usually not after payday and then the rest of the month I’m wondering why my funds are so low.
Bear with me as this is my first monthly favourites! Lets start with skincare.
Clarins Multi-Active Day Early wrinkle correction cream
I’ve only been using this for a couple of weeks or so. If I’m honest, I didn’t think that much of Clarins products not that I had really tried any of them. Theres just something about them that I didn’t feel a real connection with. Maybe as their target market is not really aimed at 20 somethings and their branding is very sophisticated. Although I would like to try/use their products I just felt they probably wouldn’t work for me and that it would be in a price range, more than I would be looking to spend. Bearing all this in mind, you’re probably wondering well how has this ended up in your favourites? Thanks to my boyfriends sister, who kindly passed on a couple of Clarins products that she no longer wanted/needed as she was having a clear out. I happily took them, I was firstly going to leave all of them at my boyfriends but I had to take this one back with me as I felt a difference in my skin after two or three uses. My skin felt incredibly soft, I mean super smooth, the texture of the product is so buttery and nothing like I’ve used before and doesn’t feel the slightly bit greasy on the skin. My skin has felt incredibly hydrated, especially after this harsh winter weather we’ve been having here in the UK.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum in Oil
I had been without an night oil for a while and thought it was about time I repurchased one. I had seen this a while ago and thought it was time to give it a go. My skin always feels better the next day and its not heavy enough to break me out. When I have used this, I find my make-up applies better the next day and it really does help control my oily T-zone. The product claims to replenish and recharge moisture and I feel it does exactly that, result! I love having this as part of my night-time ritual as it really makes taking off my make-up and using a treatment so much more luxurious. I had seen this a few years ago when it was first launched but I really wasn’t into skin care as much back then and have only the past year started introducing oils and serums into my routine, due to that I am getting older and wrinkles are real. Now this is part of The Body Shop’s Beauty Gems and has gone up in price by a couple of £’s as its £15 which is really reasonable considering there are so many expensive oils and serums on the market.
NYX Dark Circle Concealer Corrector
In a recent trip to Selfridges, I spotted the small NYX stand there. I had to squeeze myself in as it was so crowded and saw the perfect opportunity to swatch some colours and see what products I should try. As I had seen that NYX is now available online in Boots but I was dying to see some of these products up close and to avoid disappointment. I heard about this product as couple of times and I struggle with dark circles under my eyes so I had to give this a try. I’m so glad I picked this up as I use it everyday and those days i’m in a rush and forget to use it, I can really tell when I check back in the mirror later. Its quite a thick consistency and heavier duty which I like as I feel it really does cover my dark circles. Also has a slight tinge of orange which is meant to help cancel out dark circles, I could have done with a lighter shade really and the shade selection is quite sparse but I find that an issue with most high street brands.
NYX Micro Brow Pencil
After my trip to Selfridges, I also picked up the Micro Brow Pencil as I wanted to see if it was as good as the soap and glory archery. Its probably on par, I still haven’t decided which one I prefer. This type of brow product is my absolute favourite as I find it so easy to apply small strokes to achieve a natural looking brow, and having a spoolie makes it soo much easier to do your brows.
GIVENCHY Noir Couture 4 in 1 Mascara Volume, Length, Curl & Care
I received this in one of my subscription boxes. I honestly thought this would be a bit of a gimmick product as I really believe that drugstore mascaras do the job really well and spending an excessive amount of money on a high end mascara seems a bit of a waste to me. Although looking at it I wish I was bigger as I wanted it to last longer as the packaging is so beautiful with the studs. I figured as it is a sample size that its perfect for travelling with and into my on-the-go make-up bag. I held back with my estimations on my first try as I find the first time you try a fresh mascara its always at its peak. After using it a couple more times, I’m absolutey in love with it! I’m seriously considering repurchasing this after it runs out. As my lashes look so full and curled for the whole day. Which rarely seems to happen. I also love using it as the packaging feels so luxurious and by no means cheap.
