I’m a person that really struggles travelling light, I have good intentions and suddenly my suitcase is overflowing or just unnecessary items. When I return home, I haven’t used several items but it’s always a just in case which really gets me.
So when it comes to my makeup bag, I like to feel prepared and only carry the essentials in my hand bag. It also has to be your most practical diverse items. Multi-purpose items are an absolute life-saver, as are travel size items. Especially if it’s just to top up your make-up after work.
I love this bronzer for doing a light contour on the hollows of my cheeks. I think I got this one in a Christmas gift set, with lots of mini products. (A lot of them are travel-size) It has a ashy undertone which I think is perfect when adding a light bit of contour and for me I mean light. If I go overboard it can end up looking a bit dirty as my skin is quite fair.
This blush contains a hint of shimmer but can be quite subtle, giving you a natural flushed look. And of course it’s perfect travel-size. I love this blush, however I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite but it can be dialled up for the evening or a light flush for the daytime. It also suits any look! Nars also have a blush and bronze duo available, even easier for your on the go gal!
I like to use this product for two things. One for the inner corners of my eyes, softly blended out to give a brighter eye. Especially if my eyes feel pretty tired and need that extra lift and opening. Secondly to use it as a highlighter, it gives a really beautiful shimmer for the tops of your cheekbones. I think I received this product in one of my subscription boxes and it was such a delight as it is an all natural shadow and hypoallergenic, so it has very little ingredients!
I have to carry concealer with me, that or powder. My under eyes are so dark and always become tired looking. Not a fresh look if you’re going somewhere after work. The sponge applicator dispenses the product evenly and blends pretty well too. Although I do go in with a sponge of my finger afterwards.
I love this mascara, it’s definitely my ‘mascara of the moment’ I prefer a plastic wand as I find it easier to comb onto my lashes and have more control. As I’m quite prone to making a mess and getting it around my eye rather than on it. The applicator is curved with longer bristles and shorter on the other side. This makes it so much easier doing the top and bottom lashes. Just be super careful and remove the excess before applying as it can become a bit clumpy and then set and your kind of stuck then. Another reason I love this mascara as it was one of the few products I had in my handbag whilst travelling, I had to top up my make-up so after using on my lashes. I took as much excess off the wand as possible and ran it through my brows as they was looking pretty light and low key. So it just set them a bit better and then a little bit darker.
I usually get the crayon version of this but by accident purchased this. However this product is quite good for an everyday light brow. It has a felt tip and a thick crayon for shading. I’m not a massive fan of the crayon on this one as I don’t think it’s dark enough. The felt tip is nice for darling light feathery hair like lines.
This has to be one of my favourite eyeshadows and its in my top all time favourites. I love all the shadows in this palette and you can use this for a casual or night out look. The pearly shade can also be used as a highlight on you eyebrows, cheek bones and Cupid’s bow. It also lasts allll day ! Which is incredible as its so pigimented.
Now this would be in my make up if I was travelling, not so much a going out after work. As I generally don’t reapply foundation. I usually apply with using a wet beauty blender or sponge. As this applies very evenly and lasts and I like how it feels on my skin as its quite smooth. It has become a new regular in my routine, dare I say more so than my loreal infallible but that may be as I need to repurchase.
If you haven’t guessed already, I absolutely love Charlotte tilbury products, not only do they look super luxurious but they feel it when you apply and they’re quite good at staying on your face for long periods of time! This shade is a pinky browny tone which is perfect as a neutral for any occasion, if I don’t have a lipstick handy, I will just put this all over my lips
I hope this proved interesting if nothing else! What do you find handy in your make-up bag?
